Taunton made a rapid start to their innings, reaching 163-2 quickly as they looked well on course for a big total. However, the North Perrott bowlers fought back superbly and wickets began to tumble. G. Retter was outstanding with the ball, returning 3-34 from his 10 overs, while A. Frost also claimed three wickets for 42. North Perrott restricted Taunton to 263-9 from their 50 overs.

Taunton’s innings was anchored by their youth player H. Coleman, who produced an excellent 104 from 127 balls, playing a major part in their total.

In reply, North Perrott got off to a solid start, with T. Silk opening alongside G. Retter and doing an excellent job of anchoring one end while Retter scored freely at the other. Silk was eventually dismissed for 14, bringing S. Rowswell to the crease. The pair immediately got the scoreboard moving, with Retter continuing to find the boundary and Rowswell contributing an excellent 37.
R. Frost was next up to join Retter with a job still to do. He definitely continued the momentum producing a superb 57 from 53 balls. With free flowing positive cricket, North Perrott completed the chase in 46.4 overs, finishing on 267-3 to secure an impressive seven-wicket victory.
The standout performer was undoubtedly G. Retter, who capped a fantastic all-round performance with a magnificent unbeaten 130 from 134 balls, including 11 fours and four sixes. Having already made a telling contribution with the ball, Retter’s batting display and his final smashed 6 was the perfect way to finish the match!
It was a thoroughly deserved victory and a brilliant way to keep the end of the season moving in the right direction.
