A league win for Perrott Women’s team!

A league win for Perrott Women’s team!

Melanie White29 Jun - 19:10

A well fought victory!!

North Perrott Women 112-7 (20) beat Long Sutton 99-7 (20)

Perrott Hold Their Nerve in Nail-Biting 13-Run Victory

North Perrott Women’s team travelled to Long Sutton on Sunday and emerged victorious in a tense league clash, winning by 13 runs after a determined team performance in muggy conditions.

Winning the toss, Perrott chose to bat first. Openers Jodie and Hayley made a solid start, seeing off the opening spells and rotating the strike well. Jodie anchored the innings with a composed 38, setting the tone for the top order and holding the innings together through the first 10 overs.

As scoring became tougher, Slaney did an excellent job of occupying the crease and helping Perrott see out their 20 overs. The final total of 112-7 was a little below par in the challenging weather conditions but the team knew that sharp bowling and fielding could make the difference.

That belief was backed up early as Eliza (2-16) and Jade (1-28) struck with two quick wickets, giving Perrott the perfect start with the ball. Long Sutton steadily accumulated runs, but never quite taking control and wickets fell regularly.

Libby (1-15) bowled a tight spell in the middle overs, while Jodie (2-8) returned later in the innings to take two vital wickets and put the pressure firmly back on the hosts. Wickets fell just when needed, keeping the momentum with Perrott.

In the field, the team was exceptional. Hayley made several vital stops on the boundary, including one stunning save to prevent a six. Tess held two excellent catches — one particularly difficult, low take under pressure. Every player contributed to what was a committed and energetic fielding display. Darcie also making some vital stops helping behind the wicketkeeper.

As the final overs ticked down, Eliza, Ellie, Jade, and Jodie kept things tight with disciplined bowling, and Perrott edged home with a thrilling 13-run win.

A huge thank you to Neil and Paul for officiating and to Long Sutton for hosting a great match and officiating. Thanks as well to our fantastic travelling supporters!

Gratitude also goes to our wonderful sponsors:
Wayford Vineyard and Hamstone Vets (bat sponsors).
