Terry Mockridge Shield Semi-Final
North Perrott CC 1st XI 178-9 (20) beat Taunton St Andrews CC 2nd XI 59 AO (11) by 119 runs
North Perrott CC booked their place in the Terry Mockridge Shield Final with a superb all-round performance, defeating Taunton St Andrews by 119 runs at The Wyvern Club.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Perrott found themselves in real trouble as wickets tumbled and the innings threatened to slip away. With the pressure firmly on, N. Malinga produced one of the finest counter- attacking innings seen this season. Displaying incredible power and composure, he blasted 85 from just 33 balls, completely changing the momentum of the match. His explosive knock transformed a difficult position into a competitive total of 178-9 from 20 overs, giving Perrott something meaningful to defend.
If Malinga's innings set the platform, D. Brain then produced a spell of bowling that will live long in the memory!! Brain tore through the Taunton batting line-up to finish with an astonishing 7 wickets for 20 runs from his 5 overs. It was a breathtaking bowling display!!
Supporting him brilliantly was G. Retter, whose disciplined spell of 1-14 from 4 overs ensured there was no respite for the opposition. By keeping a tight lid on the scoring, Retter built relentless pressure from one end, allowing Brain to attack from the other and dominate the innings.
The bowling performance was matched by exceptional work in the field. Every run was fiercely contested and the energy and commitment from every player never dropped. It was an outstanding team fielding display that backed the bowlers superbly throughout the innings.
Taunton St Andrews were eventually dismissed for just 59, sealing a comprehensive 119-run victory and sending North Perrott into the Terry Mockridge Shield Final with confidence high after one of their best all-round performances of the season!!
Next up is the Terry Mockridge Shield Final on Monday 13th July, where North Perrott will take on Taunton Deane 1st XI at Taunton Vale, with a 6:15pm start. We'd love to see as many North Perrott supporters there as possible to get behind the team in what promises to be a fantastic final!!
